Students in our Media Production elective take part in creating and producing a weekly school news broadcast that highlights the events, activities, and stories happening around campus. Throughout the process, students take on a variety of real-world media roles including anchors, reporters, camera operators, editors, graphic designers, and producers. Each week they collaborate to plan segments, write scripts, film content, and edit the final broadcast using professional media tools.

Our goal is to give students hands-on experience in digital storytelling, communication, and video production while also building confidence, teamwork, and creativity. The show often includes school announcements, student features, athlete spotlights, campus events, student-created segments, and fun highlights from around Barrett.

These broadcasts are completely student-driven, giving them the opportunity to develop valuable media literacy, technology, and presentation skills while creating content that keeps our school community informed and entertained.
