About WEB Orientation:

Barrett is proud to participate in the nationwide program called WEB, Where Everybody Belongs. The purpose of WEB is to help sixth graders feel more comfortable and to help them achieve success. WEB allows incoming students to have an 8th-grade mentor to help them through their first year of middle school. This WEB Mentor is a responsible student, role model and positive leader hand selected from a large pool of student applicants. For further information about the WEB program, please visit www.boomerangproject.com.

WEB starts off the school year with a fun-filled, educational orientation day welcoming our new students. Your child will get a special welcome by our staff and our WEB Leadership team. Students will meet their mentor/leader and participate in various games and activities. The students also get a complete tour of the school and will have the opportunity to ask questions about middle school life. Your students will leave the WEB orientation with information and strategies that will help them be successful in middle school and they will meet people they will see all year.

Please note the following information:

  • The day is quite active. Students should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement, including closed toed shoes. Please leave backpacks and purses at home.
  • We are unable to administer medication during the WEB Orientation. Please contact staff with any questions regarding this.
  • This is a student-only function beginning at 8:00 a.m. Parents can drop off their child in front of the gym. Student mentors will guide the 6th graders to the gym.
  • The WEB event and schedule pick up ends at 12:30 p.m.

Lunch, water, & a treat will be provided. . After lunch, students will get their schedules.

We look forward to meeting your student on WEB Orientation day!
